Grammy winning Norah Jones played Stubb’s Saturday night May 1, 2010. The adult-contempary jazz singer-songwriter has a dedicated fan base that loves her ultra relaxed and smooth jazz style. The tour is in support of her new album The Fall produced by Jacquire King (Tom Waits, Kings of Leon, Mutemath) who tried give Norah Jones a slightly different sound than her previous albums. However, this is difficult to discern during her live performance. The vocal an instrumental nuances on the immaculately produced album can not be heard during a live performance. Quickly, all the songs seem to have the same sound which might cause some people to loose attention during the show. I have always been a Norah Jones fan when I listen to her CDs, however, her live performances, both the last time in 2007 at the Back Yard and again Saturday night at Stubb’s leave me somewhat underwhelmed. Not only did she play Saturday night, but Stubb’s added an additional show for her Sunday night.
